Life Journey Groups

Luncheons & Monthly Activities
We meet on the third Thursday for a special activity such as a noon luncheon held in the Christian Life Center (CLC) with various types of programs being presented, some purely for fun and others more for informational purposes.

Day Trips & Scheduled Tours
During October and April, our Thursday meetings involve a day trip to places such as the zoo, an apple orchard during season, and other recreational locations.  We also take scheduled tours such as a two-day trip to Natural Bridge and the surrounding area as well as day trips with a tour guide and tour bus.  Other trips are offered by our Associate Pastor of Activities in which our Seniors can participate.

Special Conferences and Retreats
At least every other year we attend a conference or retreat especially designed for seniors, usually sponsored by our State Baptist Convention or the Southern Baptist Convention.

V
oices of Experience - Senior Choir
A big part of our program revolves around the Voices of Experience Choir.  This group rehearses each Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. from September through May and has numerous opportunities to minister to others throughout the year.  We sing for the evening worship service on the fourth Sunday of the month, and often present our own Christmas and Easter programs.  At least once a month we sing for a retirement or nursing facility as well as for the fall and spring chapel services at High Point University.  We also perform out of town upon invitation.

Men's Service
Our group of senior adult men called The Chain Gang performs construction and repair-related tasks.  This group has helped church members with various in-home needs such as building a wheelchair ramp or providing assistance during emergency situations.  The Chain Gang also does projects around the church and is especially helpful in the behind-the-scenes preparation of Christmas and Easter programs.

Bereavement Committee
Some of our seniors serve on the Bereavement Committee which takes food and supplies to families during the loss of loved ones.  The Senior Adults are also seeking to develop a group of individuals who will help with hospital and prolonged illness visitation

S.O.S
S.O.S is a ministry in which our Seniors serve other seniors who are in need of visits or other services on a weekly basis.

Understanding that Christian maturity is a lifelong process, we are committed to providing opportunities for our seniors to be challenged in their faith and service while enjoying the fullness of life in their season of life.

Do you own a 4-wheel drive SUV?  Would you be available to assist a church member who has a medical emergency during inclement weather?  Marion is heading up a registry of at least 6 drivers to help.  Call Marion, 580-2513.
