Dr. Rodney Navey, Assoc. Pastor of Married Adults since 2007
Rodney primarily grew up in the small town of Mt. Pleasant, NC where he played football and wrestled for Mt. Pleasant High School. In his senior year (1983), he surrendered to God's call to vocational ministry. He then went on to graduate from Wingate College where he met his wife Donna Long. Together, they took off to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he graduated in 1990 with a Masters of Divinity degree. He later completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at SEBTS. The focus of his D.Min. Project was "equipping men to shepherd their families."
Before coming to Lawndale, Rodney served for 12 years as the Senior Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Indian Trail, NC. The call to come to Lawndale centered on building healthy families. He and Donna continue to mentor men and women as well as lead classes and seminars in marriage and parenting.
Rodney and Donna have 4 children: Josh (who is married to Amy), Mark (who is married to Krystle), Jacob (who is married to Hayley), and Gloria (who is a student at UNCC). They also have 4 grandchildren (Levi, Eli, Reese, and Selah). Rodney's passion is equipping families for marriage and parenting. He also enjoys running and reading. Some of his favorite authors are: John Piper, Tim Keller, James Dobson, John McArthur, David Jeremiah, Dennis Rainey, Voddie Baucham, and Jerry Bridges.
