El-Salvador Clothing Drive - Our church is participating in a clothing drive for approximately 175 pastors and their families in El Salvador.  We need clothes for all ages, adults and children, clean, with no stains or rips, sweaters and light jackets (but no winter clothes).  There will be marked boxes downstairs in the collection center.  These clothes will be delivered to El Salvador along with the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoe Boxes.  Deadline for donations is October 10th.  If you have any questions, please call Bill Bailey at 282-3270.

NEW YORK CITY TRIP – Saturday, December 18th – Tuesday, December 21st. This trip is open to all who are interested.  An informational meeting will be held on Sunday, August 22 at 5:15 in Room 311 (Choir Suite).

Freedom's Never Free DVDs Available - DVDs of the July 4 Patriotic Program are available for $7 each in the church lobby on Sunday morning, or in the church office during the week.

Baptists On Missions - Saturday, September 25 at 9:00am at the PBA, 2009 Sharpe Rd. 
The schedule: 9am - Breakfast, 9:30am - How to make a Kingdom impact using Sports, Handy Man, and Disaster Relief ministries, 10am -Free Golf Clinic, 10:30am-12:30pm - Two hour work day on the PBA property.  The PBA  is recruiting volunteers to help in some of the projects on the PBA's 55 acre property, and help the elderly and handicapped in our community.  Let us know if you have certain skills such as painting, carpentry, tree trimming, plumbing, etc. and we will match you with a need.  For more information, call Jimmy Sowers @ 482-8548.  Register by Sept 23 at the PBA office, 275-7651, for breakfast.

Children's Learning Center - Lawndale's week-day Children's Learning Center has openings for students for the school year 2010-2011.  Call Ann Johnson at 282-4177 for more information.

Operation Christmas Child - Kick-off the Christmas Season by processing shoeboxes with Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child in Boone.  A team will leave Sunday afternoon, Nov. 28, and process shoe boxes on Nov. 29, 30, and the morning of December 1.  They will return to Greensboro on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 1.  Your only cost is an inexpensive Super 8 motel room.  Your $25 deposit holds your spot.  Sign up with the church receptionist @ 288-3824. 

Ad-Hoc Committee Report - The Christian Life Center Ad-Hoc Committee has now completed design investigations including examination of alternative approaches to the building repairs.  Preparation of bid documents is well underway.  We anticipate that the final documents will be ready for issue to pre-approved bidding contractors by the first of November.  The repairs to the Christian Life Center will begin no later than the first week of December.  The Committee is working to provide the church with budget pricing and a tentative construction schedule in the near future.

Greensboro Life Chain - On Sunday, October 3, from 2:30-3:30 p.m., the Greensboro Life Chain will form along Battleground Ave.  For more information, call Polly Dodson, 375-5395.  Life Chain is the largest, peaceful, pro-life public witness in the world.

International Outreach Emphasis - Our ESL class will be hosting an outreach effort at Lawndale on Sat., Sept. 11 from    2-4 p.m.  You are invited to help distribute fliers for those who desire to learn English.  After a brief time of training, we will go out in small groups for the outreach.  The ultimate goal is to share Christ through this ministry.  Please meet in Room 263. 

WMU - The Evelyn Frost WMU will meet Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the home of Doris Myrick, 2810 Watauga Dr. at 10 a.m.  Women who would like to ride together should meet in the church parking lot at 9:30 a.m.
