Jon grew up in High Point and was raised in the faith at Green Street Baptist Church. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Appalachian State University, Master of Divinity (Cum Laude) from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Charlotte) and Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell (South Hamilton MA). His doctoral thesis is titled: “God’s Word God’s Way: The Big Image of Biblical Preaching”

 

Since 1991, God has blessed Jon with a variety of ministry experiences that include Music and Christian Education, Children and Youth Ministry, Senior Pastor of two churches and now as our Senior Adult Pastor since 2018.

Jon loves the Lord, His Word and His People. His greatest passions are to teach and preach the Bible with clarity and creativity so that people can know and love the Lord Jesus; and to minister God’s grace to people of every age and stage of life.

Jon and Wendy (Self), married in 1989, cherish their gifted daughter Hayley Rebecca Sanon and son in law Nikhil Sanon, who live and work in Washington, D.C. In addition to ministry, Jon loves college football, baseball, playing the drums, singing, DIY projects at home, fishing and boating at the coast and just hanging out with the family and their precious pomehuahua Callie.
